A socially distanced vigil is being held in Dumbarton tomorrow following the disappearance of Sarah Everard.
Women’s rights activist Lynda McEwan has organised the event, which will take place opposite Costa Coffee in the high street at 6pm on Saturday, March 13.
She says social distancing must be adhered to and said anyone in attendance should wear a mask and bring hand sanitiser.
It comes after 33-year-old Sarah Everard disappeared after walking home from her friend’s flat in south London on March 3.
On Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police revealed human remains, yet to be formally identified, had been found in connection to the search and a serving police officer has also been arrested.
Lynda has set up a Facebook event page which states that the vigil will “remember Sarah Everard and all the women lost to gender based violence and to say we won’t take this any more!”
The activist has previously organised Reclaim the Night demonstrations in Dumbarton and Alexandria.
Vigils are being organised across the UK after the news of her disappearance sparked national outrage surrounding women’s rights.
The case has since sparked conversation on social media surrounding a woman’s right to walk the streets without the fear of harassment or violence.
