Reckless West Lothian driver has car seized after ignoring cancelled insurance policy

A driver in West Lothian has been given a hefty fine after they were found to be intentionally driving without insurance.

On Saturday (September 12), police in Livingston confirmed that they had caught the driver whilst out on a road traffic patrol.

As the driver headed through Fauldhouse they were pulled over by officers who proceeded to check their insurance, tax and other details.

However, on inspection, the red Volkswagen was found to have no insurance after the insurance company cancelled their policy the day before.

According to officers, the insurance company had contacted the driver the day before to advise that their policy had been cancelled.

However, this was ignore by the owner who continued to drive the vehicle illegally.

After being caught by police, the driver was issued with a conditional offer of six points as well as a hefty £300 fine.

The red Volkswagen was also seized by officers at the scene.

In recent weeks, road traffic police have cracked down on drivers across Edinburgh and the Lothians, with a series of different offences reported.

Last week, officers recorded a total of 87 different offences across the city in just one day, with 48 speeding penalty notices handed out alongside over 30 warnings.
