'Reckless' thugs damage car after throwing objects from bridge onto busy Scots motorway

A car was damaged after items were thrown from a bridge down to a busy Scots motorway.

The incident occurred on the M74 near Cairn Lodge Services in Lanark at around 11pm on Tuesday July 6.

While no-one was injured, Police Scotland are now appealing for information to help find the suspects.

Constable Jim Dewar from the Divisional Road Policing Unit said: “Throwing items from a bridge where there are moving vehicles below is an extremely dangerous and reckless act which could have seriously injured someone.

“I am appealing to anyone who has any knowledge of the incident or anyone who was driving in the area at the time, who may have witnessed any unusual activity to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone with a dash-cam to check back and see if they have any footage which may assist us.”

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3638 of July 6 2021.
