'Reckless' Paisley firebugs torch front door of home in middle of the night

Police are hunting for 'reckless' firebugs who torched the front door of a home in the middle of the night.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a blaze on Motehill Road after the alarm was sounded at around 4.30am this morning.

Thankfully, no-one was injured as a result of the fire, which police are treating as deliberate.

Officers have now launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A police statement issued this afternoon (Tuesday) advised: "Officers in Paisley are appealing for information following an incident of wilful fireraising in the area.

"Around 4.30am on Tuesday, 10 August, police were called to a report of a fire at a property on Motehill Road, Paisley.

"As a result damage was caused to the front door of the property. Nobody was hurt during the incident.

"Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for the assistance of the public."

Detective Constable Laura Sokolov, of Paisley CID said: "Thankfully nobody was injured as a result of this reckless act.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to trace those responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who has any information which may assist us in relation to this to get in touch.”
