Reckless idiots shine laser pen at Edinburgh bus driver as police slam 'potentially fatal' actions

An Edinburgh bus driver was targeted with a laser pen while driving through Gilmerton this week.

Police have slammed the "dangerous and potentially fatal" behaviour of those involved, adding officers will be making efforts to identify the culprits.

The reckless incident happened at around 6.10pm on Monday (11 January) in Gilmerton Dykes Street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Police received a report that a laser pen had been shone at a bus driver. An investigation to identify those responsible is underway."

Officers are also investigating an incident in which people were filmed "bus surfing" in the city centre. Images surfaced on social media showing two people hanging off the back of a bus as it made its way along Princes Steet.

CCTV images will be looked at in a bid to catch those involved.
