A 28-year-old man has been given a driving ban following a pursuit through Clifton.
Nathan Clements, of Westville Gardens, St Ann's, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, May 14, and pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and dangerous driving.
He received a 10-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, he will be disqualified for driving for 15-months and he'll have to retake his test.
The charges relate to an incident on the evening of August 26, 2019, where he was arrested after a car he was driving was stopped in Green Lane, Clifton.
The car was parked, but as the officer approached, the vehicle reversed off at speed.
The officer returned to his car to pursue the offender, who at one point was travelling in the wrong direction into Clifton village.
A police spokesman said the car was forced to stop as it turned into a dead end and despite again trying to getting away, the police officer positioned his car to prevent him from doing so.
Despite seemingly with nowhere to go, Clements continued to rev the car in attempt to evade arrest whilst being detained.
Police Constable Stuart Howe led the investigation. He said: “Clements drove recklessly, which not only put himself and officers in pursuit of him that evening in danger, but also any members of public whilst out and about in Clifton."
