Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have sparked rumours they could be reuniting after being spotted together following JLo’s collapsed engagement to sport star Alex Rodriguez.
The early noughties portmanteau of ‘Bennifer’ has been getting batted around the Internet following the revelation that 51-year-old Jennifer and 48-year-old Ben have been “hanging out”.
Photographers captured Ben emerging from Jennifer’s white Escalade SUV on Thursday – raising eyebrows and whispers of a reunion.
And it has been reported the pair have been “spending time together in Los Angeles” thanks to covert meet ups.
Page Six claims Ben has been ferried to one of Jennifer’s Californian mansions in her SUV so they can spend time together – while her security has been working hard to keep the meetings a secret.
A source told the outlet: “Security picks him up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house.”
It is claimed Ben has been to see Jen at least three times since she recently returned to the US after wrapping work on film Shotgun Weddings in the Dominican Republic.
The reunion of the pair just two weeks after the collapse of Jennifer’s relationship with 45-year-old Alex has caused an avalanche of speculation on social media.
One Twitter user wrote: “Me at 40 thinking about me at 21 thinking about Bennifer.”
Another questioned what year it was as they noted both “Bennifer and Abercrombie” were trending on Twitter.
While one vicious Twitter user mocked the secret meet-ups, tweeting: “Working hard on Gigli 2” – referring to the critically savaged 2003 comedy that Jennifer and Ben starred in, not long before their own relationship collapsed.
Page Six did downplay speculation of a romantic reunion, however, with a source stating: “They are friends … they’ve never not been.”
JLo and Ben dated from July 2002 until January 2004 – and included a near wedding in 2003, with the nuptials postponed four days before the big day.
Ben went on to date and marry fellow actress Jennifer Garner in 2005 with whom he shares three children – but the pair split in 2015, divorcing in 2018.
He recently dated Cuban actress Ana de Armas between 2019 and January this year.
While JLo has been married thrice; to Ojani Noa between 1997 and 1998), Cris Judd between 2001 and 2003), and to Marc Anthony, with whom she shares two children, between 2004 and 2014.
The singer-actress began dating baseball hunk ARod in February 2017, became engaged in March 2019 but announced their split on 15 April this year.
