Recently closed Leeds nightclub named as one of the best in the world

A recently closed Leeds nightclub has been named as one of the top 100 in the world by DJ Mag.

DJ Mag's list of top 100 clubs is voted on by thousands of clubbers, and venues from New York, Ibiza, Berlin and Magaluf all feature.

Leeds' entry is The Mint Club, which comes in at number 69 in the list. Sadly, the club recently closed after a magnificent 20 year stint in Leeds city centre.

A statement on the clubs Facebook page in early March said: "The places, the venues that give diversity and soul to our towns and cities are disappearing fast.

"It is very sad. For music, for art, for theatre for all of us."

Their sister site Mint Warehouse on Water Lane is still open and hosting events.

Other UK entries on the top list include Stealth in Nottingham, The Warehouse Project in Manchester and Sub Club in Glasgow.

The histroci Space Ibiza club takes the number one spot, while London's Fabric is the top UK entry at number 15.
