Receivers move in at Seiont Manor hotel in North Wales

Seiont Manor hotel in Gwynedd is now in the hands of receivers.

Based in the village of Llanrug, near Caernarfon, the hotel closed on Saturday - with bosses saying it would reopen in the "near future".

This came after protests outside the property by some hotel staff who were unpaid in December and a dispute between the joint owners of the hotel.

This week saw receivers Duff and Phelps appointed to the stately home Plas Glynllifon , which is owned by the same people as Seiont Manor.

Duff and Phelps today confirmed they had also been appointed receivers to Seiont.

A spokeswoman said: "James Liddiment and Paul Greenhalgh, both of Duff and Phelps, were appointed LPA Fixed Charge Receivers to three assets owned by Plas Glynllifon Limited and Rural Retreats & Development Limited.

"The assets in question are: 1) Seiont Manor Hotel, Caernarfon; 2) Plas Glynllifon, Caernarfon, and; 3) Polvellan House, Looe.

"The receivers are currently undertaking a review of the assets subject to their appointment and liaising with all stakeholders in this regard."

Paul and Rowena Williams bought Seiont Manor in 2016.

Mylo Capital Limited - run by Myles Cunliffe - entered into a 50/50 partnership with the couple on the nearby Glynllifon mansion and Seiont Manor last December.

Mr Williams previously said: "We have not been in operational control of the hotel since February 2019."

A spokesman for operators Seiont Manor Ltd said positive discussions were being held with Duff and Phelps and they were confident the hotel could reopen in the coming weeks.

Interested parties should contact Tom Johnston of Duff and Phelps on 020 7089 0857.

Seiont Manor hit the headlines in 2002 when Hollywood star Angelina Jolie and her adopted son stayed there during filming of Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in Snowdonia.
