Recapping a weird day of memorabilia requests at Jets training camp

Sunday was not your average day of Jets players interacting with fans at training camp.

Most fans usually ask for their jersey or helmet to be signed by players when they get the opportunity to get autographs. Photo ops are commonplace, too. However, a couple of fans went outside the box with their requests on Sunday at camp.

For starters, one kid asked Jets punter Lachlan Edwards for some of his armpit hair, which is disturbing in its own right. Here’s hoping Edwards did not give in to the fan’s unusual request.

Then there was Sam Darnold, who was asked for an autograph by a fan. Nothing weird there, right?

Wrong! Instead of signing a football or a jersey, a fan preferred Darnold sign a speeding ticket that the fan received earlier in the day. Allegedly, this fan was going 64 mph in a 55 mph zone, but that didn’t seem to bother Darnold.

He had no problem scribbling his signature on the ticket.

The Jets are not holding many practices open to the fans this summer. In fact, the team is having only five, which is one of the lowest totals in the league. With that in mind, Jets fans are getting the most of their experience at training camp.
