RECAP: Railway closure impacts services from Bristol Temple Meads - when the disruption will end

Railway services between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington will not return to normal until 7pm, says National Rail.

It follows an afternoon of disruption caused by an incident on the line from Maidenhead and Paddington.

A person was hit by a train shortly after 2pm.

Soon after, Great Western Railway (GWR) announced all lines were closed on the Great Western main line between Maidenhead and Paddington.

It meant services from Bristol Temple Meads to London have been disrupted.

Passengers have been taken to Reading where they have been directed on to other trains such as those operated by South Western Railway to London Waterloo.

At 3pm, GWR said some lines had opened but a reduced service was running.

Then, at 4pm, a National Rail spokesman said: “Major disruption between London Paddington and Reading / Marlow expected until 19:00."
