Recap: Falcons lose Week 3 matchup with Colts, 27-24

The Atlanta Falcons lost to the Indianapolis Colts 27-24 in a game that felt like it was not as close as the final score indicated.

One of the keys to this game was the Falcons getting off to a fast start and playing from ahead. Instead, the opposite happened and Atlanta went down 10-0 in the first quarter. Despite fighting back near the end, the Falcons couldn’t finish the comeback after falling behind in a deep hole, largely of their own making. They committed 16 penalties, some of them coming at the worst times.

The Falcons came back to hit the Colts back in the mouth in the second half, but it was too little too late. Julio Jones and Austin Hooper had exceptional performances. However, the rest of the offense couldn’t put it together to score a touchdown when it truly mattered.

The defense also suffered a major blow, losing safety Keanu Neal to a potential season-ending Achilles injury.

Atlanta drops to 1-2 on the season and will have to fight to get back into contention against Tennessee.
