Recap as excited Hearts fan live blogged new signing David Vanecek's flight from Prague

A Hearts fan was so excited about the arrival of new signing David Vanecek that they spent the afternoon tracking his flight from Prague to Edinburgh.

The front man officially joined the Tynecastle club in January having signed from Czech side FK Teplice.

Anticipation had been building for a few months as fans waited to see what their new man can bring to their side on the pitch.

However one supporter simply couldn't wait any longer and decided to effectively live blog the 27-year-old's journey to his new home on Flight Radar – using the hashtag #VanecekWatch.

And the level of detail was quite extraordinary.

The thread started with Twitter user @BigC1874 watching as his flight was sitting on the tarmac waiting for a slot to take off.

They then followed the Easy Jet flight's progress as it travelled through Germany and over the Netherlands towards the UK.

At one point they even took the time to discuss the altitude the plane is flying at, and what passengers would likely have seen out the window.

The striker finally touched down just before 4pm – and spent some time posing for pictures with fans on arrival.

The full thread can be found below.

The excitement was miss-placed in hindsight, however. The club today confrimed that the striker had been allowed to leave by mutual consent.

Vanecek made just seven appearnces in maroon after being criticised by Craig Levein for not being of the required fitness levels to play in his team.

It's likely he'll return to his homeland, with former club Teplice credited with an interest.
