Recall issued for chocolate sold in Tesco due to dangerous allergy warnings

The affected Hotel Chocolat Batons may contain peanuts - which will naturally cause issues for anyone who is allergic to them.

The alert came on Monday evening.

A notice from the FSAI reads: "Hotel Chocolat Caramel Milk Batons; pack size: 120g

"Batch codes: 22286 and 22287; best before date: July 2023

"The above batches of Hotel Chocolat Caramel Milk Batons may contain peanuts which are not declared in the list of ingredients. This may make the implicated batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts."

Food allergen alerts are issued by the FSAI regarding the possible risk to consumers with food allergies or food intolerances from a particular food or batch of food. Reasons why food allergen alerts are issued include, the undeclared presence of an allergen or inadequate/incorrect allergen labelling.

A food alert may also be published for the same food.
