Business champions in the Swansea Bay City Region are to be honoured as part of a webinar event examining the prospects for the region next month.

The Rebooting Swansea Bay virtual event will be held on Monday, June 14, between 12.30pm and 2pm.

You can register to watch by visiting the main event website.

The event will feature a panel discussion, chaired by Media Wales business editor Siôn Barry. The event will also mark the launch of the Swansea Bay Business Awards, which will take place on October 21 at the Brangwyn Hall.

The panellists for the Rebooting Swansea Bay event are: Alun Thomas, regional manager of the Development Bank of Wales; leader of Swansea Council Rob Stewart; vice-chancellor of University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Professor Medwin Hughes, managing partner of accountancy firm Bevan & Buckland, Alison Vickers and Rachael Flanagan, founder chief executive or commercial cleaning venture Mrs Bucket.

During the webinar five businesses will be named business champions and introduced by the event’s sponsors in the University Wales Trinity Saint David, HMT Sancta Maria Hospital, VortexIoT, M&D Care, and the Development Bank of Wales.

Editor of the South Wales Evening Post Jonathan Roberts said: “While the pandemic has impacted significantly on the economy, it is important that we champion the very best in business and entrepreneurial success across the Swansea Bay City Region.

“The Rebooting Swansea Bay virtual event is also an opportunity to hear from key decision makers to assess how the region bounces back, as well as launching the 2021 Swansea Bay Business Awards which will be held in October.”.

Siôn Barry, Business Editor for Media Wales, added: “Now is the time to build back strong and better. We have brought together a great panel and I am sure they will offer plenty of insight into the challenges, but also importantly the opportunities facing the region.”

Entries for the Swansea Bay Business Awards can be made via website www.swanseabaybusinessawards.co.uk. The deadline for entries is August 2.

There are a vast array of categories such as Entrepreneur of the Year and Young Business Person of the Year, Family Business of the Year and StartUp Business of the Year, Female Tech Award and Diversity and Inclusion Award.
