Rebel Wilson hits out at trolls who mum-shamed her for partying after baby's birth

New mum Rebel Wilson has hit back at trolls who have slammed her for partying during the week her daughter was born.

The Australian actress, 42, and partner Ramona Agruma welcomed their baby girl, Royce Lillian, back in November - but the joyful baby news was soon overshadowed by harsh criticism when Rebel was pictured celebrating at Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday bash.

Soon after, Rebel and Ramona were also trolled online for attending Paris Hilton's wedding anniversary while their daughter was in her first few weeks of life.

Following the backlash, Rebel has now shared her side of the story, saying that she didn't expect to be 'mum-shamed' in the first week of her motherhood journey.

Speaking on the Life Uncut podcast with hosts Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, the Aussie actress said: "It was only a week until I got mum-shamed.

"I was shocked at the criticism because Chris Hemsworth goes to the gym, and people aren't yelling, 'Where's your kids?' But why do they do it to every woman?"

Although Rebel initially had reservations about attending the parties, it was her nanny who supported the idea and encouraged her to get out.

"It's a little bit of work in a way," she said. "Like, I'm talking to directors or talking to other actors that might be useful to collaborate with and then we were basically home by midnight.

"Just because you become a mother, doesn’t mean that you lose your identity as a person. It doesn't mean you can't go out with friends or you can't go on a holiday. It doesn't mean you can’t have a career.

"People will say I'm in a privileged position, which I am, but I think it's so outdated. Why is it women shaming other women? It always is."

Rebel continued: "I worked hard to get into a position where I had a really great household and stable life to bring up the baby, but we don’t go out that much though because we want to stay home and chill and we’re so exhausted."

It comes after the actress admitted that her deep desires to become a mother spurred on her staggering six-stone weight loss.

The Hollywood actress made the decision to completely overhaul her lifestyle at the beginning of 2020 as she finally ditched bad eating habits and stuck to a gruelling exercise regime.
