Rebekah Vardy surprises viewers with her Dancing On Ice debut after accidentally injuring her partner

Rebekah Vardy surprised Dancing On Ice viewers with her skating skills as she made her debut on the ITV show.

The wife of Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy impressed viewers and the judges on the celeb skating show after an unfortunate incident in rehearsals.

The 38-year-old mother of five accidentally struck her pro partner Andy Buchanan's face with her skate blade.

Rebekah said she was mortified at "literally nearly taking someone's eye out" in training for the skating competition.

As the pair took to the ice viewers said they were surprised by her triumphant performance to Sia's Alive.

"WOW #rebekahvardy was much better than I thought," tweeted one fan.

"Wasn’t expecting to be impressed by Rebekah Vardy but damn, she was good!!" said another.

"@RebekahVardy by far the best performance tonight! Amazing start! Absolutely nailed it!" said another viewer.

Asked after the skate how he was, Andy reassured that he was fine.

"It's what we do, it's dangerous," he told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Rebekah and Andy scored 25 points.

Jayne Torvill said: "I'm so impressed with your skating. You have a lot of speed, you have what we call the glide.

"What you need to work on now is some of the arm positions."

She added that Vardy had done "brilliantly".

The pair were the last couple to take to the ice.

Rebekah is no stranger to a reality TV competition, having appeared in I'm A Celebrity in 2017.

But she'll be hoping to go further this time as she was the third celebrity to be eliminated during the programmes 17th series.
