Rebekah Vardy 'furious as she's hit with £1.8million legal bill from Coleen Rooney'

Rebekah Vardy is said to have been left furious after she was hit with a £1.8 million legal bill from Coleen Rooney, it has been claimed.

The wife of football star Jamie Vardy was ordered to pay 90% of Coleen's legal bills after she lost her libel trial at the High Court last year.

At the time, the sum was assessed to be around £500,000 but Rebekah has now claimed it has skyrocketed by more than 300%.

Rebekah was said to have been fuming when she was hit with the bill, which reportedly includes a £2,000 stay for one of Coleen's lawyers at a five-star hotel.

It's claimed Rooney's side also racked up a £225 tab for breakfast and drinks at London’s Nobu Hotel.

Rebekah received her total bill in April, with the total amount reportedly reaching £1.8million.

She is believed to have hired a legal team to work out a breakdown of the costs.

Now, Rebekah is prepared to pay what she “rightfully owes” but has now launched a “war” over the spiralling costs.

“Becky was furious after seeing Coleen’s bill and hired a legal team to push back. To her, it’s war," a source told The Sun.

“Her legal team has said that some of the costs appear to have been inflated.

“They went back to Coleen’s team and asked for a detailed breakdown of some of the points.”

The Mirror has reached out to Coleen and Rebekah's reps for comment.

As well as paying 90% of Coleen's fees, Rebekah will also have to pay her own legal bill - which was put at £2,017,860, plus at least £200,000 of additional trial costs, according to reports last year.

The Wagatha Christie drama all started with the now-infamous tweet Coleen Rooney shared back in 2019.

She revealing she'd carried out a 'sting operation' and believed that 'false stories' about her private life had been leaked to the press via Rebekah Vardy's Instagram account.

Rebekah vehemently denied Coleen's accusations and launched libel proceedings in 2020, but the court ultimately found in Coleen's favour after a hearing packed with twists and turns.

One major moment came when Rebekah sensationally back-tracked, admitting that her agent Caroline Watt could have leaked the stories.

In July, High Court Judge Karen Steyn ruled Coleen proved her claim was “substantially true” and Mrs Vardy knew about disclosures by her ex-agent Caroline Watt.
