Rebekah Vardy 'demands public apology' from Coleen Rooney over 'Wagatha Christie' row

Rebekah Vardy has reportedly demanded a public apology from Coleen Rooney over their Wagatha Christie row.

The wife of Leicester City Jamie Vardy has been at odds with Wayne Rooney's wife since last year, when Coleen claimed stories from her private Instagram page had been leaked by Rebekah's account.

Rebekah - who denied any involvement in the leak - has taken legal action against her nemesis, and they are reportedly due to settle the dispute out of court this week.

Now The Sun reports Rebekah's main demand is a public apology from Coleen.

A source told the paper: "Becky is adamant she’s done nothing wrong and while she wants an end to this ongoing legal battle, she also wants to be vindicated.

"Becky has told her team she wants a public apology...

"She has maintained her innocence throughout and doesn’t want this to be brushed under the carpet without Coleen publicly apologising to her for the fallout..."

Coleen set up her own sting operation to catch whoever had been passing on information from her private Instagram page to the press last year.

She posted a series of fake stories, blocked all her followers apart from Rebekah's account and then sprung a gotcha post online when the hoax posts made their way into the papers.

Rebekah vehemently denied she was behind the leaks, insisting a number of people had access to her Instagram page.

She subsequently threatened to sue for libel – while Coleen threatened she would countersue for breach of privacy.

The case is reportedly set to be resolved with an arbitration hearing via video conferencing app Zoom this week.

Coleen v Rebekah: Vardy denies leaking stories from Rooney's Instagram account

After Coleen's post last October, Rebekah released a statement to strenuously deny she was behind the leak.

Rebekah wrote: "I wish you had called me if you thought this.

"I never speak to anyone about you as various journalists who have asked me to over the years can vouch for.

"I'm not being funny but I don't need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you?...

"I liked you a lot Coleen & I'm so upset that you have chosen to do this."

Mirror Online has contacted representatives for Vardy and Rooney for comment.
