Rebecca Ferguson says she was 'deeply unhappy' for many years

Rebecca Ferguson confessed she felt "deeply unhappy" for many years, as she appeared on This Morning today.

Scouser Rebecca was on the show alongside Nile Rodgers speaking about their single 'nothing left but family' that they filmed at Abbey Road together.

Mum-of-three Rebecca s aid that when she met Nile she was becoming disillusioned with the music industry, but that working with him made her realise why she loved making music.

The former X Factor star told hosts Holly and Phil that she'd previously struggled in her life and been unhappy.

She said: "I was deeply unhappy for many years but I had no idea I was unhappy.

"I had a tough childhood and I picked the wrong relationships, which I own now.

"But I've been happy for three years now,I just needed someone to pull me out of that pit.

"Nile really helped me, along with some other friends.

"Now I look forward to life and don't wish my life away.

"I wake up thinking what's going to happen today and I look forward to it."

Holly and Phil also congratulated Rebecca on her home schooling efforts.

Phil said: "Rebecca is the only person we've spoken to that said she had really enjoyed home schooling during lockdown."

Rebecca said: "Well yes to a point."
