Rebecca Adlington marries Andy Parsons in lavish ceremony surrounded by Olympic stars

Mansfield's Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington has tied the knot - leaving fiancé Andy Parsons tearful as she walked down the aisle.

The gold medallist chose Tom Odell's Grow Old With Me - a song choice she kept secret from Andy, a facilities manager, the Mirror Online reports.

Rebecca said: "We chose all the other music together, but I wanted one little thing that was a surprise for him.

"He kept trying to get it out of me, but I wouldn't break."

Andy confessed that he felt his composure go the second he heard the song being played.

He said: "Then I saw Summer coming down the aisle with Jo and then Albie being carried by Tom and that really got me. So when Becky started walking towards me with her dad, I just lost it."

The couple married in a romantic ceremony which was attended by an array of other Olympic stars. They planned the wedding in four months after unexpectedly finding their dream venue while looking for summer holidays.

Rebecca, 32, and Andy, married on Saturday, August 28, in a lavish do at Cheshire's Scarlet Hall but held back on publicly announcing their amazing news until a week later.

The newlyweds, who have five-month-old son Albie, shared a selection of sweet snaps with Hello! Magazine.

Speaking to the publication, Rebecca said: "The sun shone, the people we love were there and it was just the best day."

She was walked down the aisle on the arm of her father, Steve, accompanied by her six-year-old daughter Summer, who she has from her first marriage to Harry Needs.

The little girl was both flower girl and ring-bearer.

After the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a party with around 80 guests, including former competitive swimmers Steve Parry, Caitlin McClatchley and Fran Halsall, and Fran's husband, former England rugby league player Jon Wilkin.

Rebecca and Andy first met almost two years after the breakdown of Rebecca's first marriage. They began talking after matching on the dating app Bumble three-and-a-half years ago.
