Rebeca Tavares reveals she is 'one of the big reasons' why husband Fabinho moved to Liverpool

Fabhino's wife, Rebeca Tavares, says she is one of the big reasons the Brazilian moved to Liverpool.

The versatile 27-year-old helped the Reds secure passage through to the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday evening courtesy of a 1-0 win over Ajax.

Curtis Jones' goal was enough to secure victory, with a clean sheet ensuring that a previously free-scoring Ajax side left Anfield empty-handed.

Fabinho was a key part of that clean sheet, lining up alongside Joel Matip in central defence as the Reds continued to cope admirably without long-term absentees Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez among others.

His performance earned praise from his wife, Tavares, who tweeted: "What a player Fabinho is".

Reds fans were in full agreement, flooding her replies to tell her how right she is.

It also led to an exchange where Tavares joked she was a key reason why Fabinho opted to move to Anfield in the first place.

A Twitter user said: "All LFC fans should love Rebeca, the wife of Fabinho but also a huge red.

"She is definitely the reason Fabinho came here."

It prompted a reply from Tavares, who jokingly agreed she was.

"Yes," she said. "I'm one of the big reasons." Followed by a wink emoji.

Tavares is well-known for engaging with Reds supporters and throwing herself into the culture and fandom at Anfield.

Speaking to the ECHO in 2019, the Brazilian thanked Reds fans for their warm welcome since her husband moved to Merseyside from Monaco in 2018.

She said: "Liverpool's community gave me a very warm welcome.

"I am a Fabinho and Liverpool lover, so I can’t wait to watch the matches."
