'Reasonable running conditions' forecast for Stirling Marathon

Runners lining up for the Stirling marathon and half-marathon will be relieved to hear that here will be no repeat of last weekend's soaring temperatures during the races.

Stirling basked in sunshine over the Easter weekend with temperatures in excess of 23 degrees Centigrade.

However, conditions are to be much cooler this weekend.

Scott McLean, who runs the Stirling Weather amateur weather station, located at King's Park, will also be taking part in the marathon this Sunday.

He has been keeping a keen eye on the weekend forecast for the big events. He said: "After the recent hot and sunny weather we are back into more unsettled conditions with rain showers to end the working week and on Saturday. But it looks like on Sunday there will be reasonable running conditions.

"It will be mostly dry and cloudy with temperature ranging during the event from 8 to 13 degrees Centigrade and only a light breeze."

The Stirling Observer will have a special eight page pull-out in Wednesday's newspaper, including coverage, reaction and the full list of results.
