Reason why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sits out Liverpool v Leicester City revealed

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was left out of the Liverpool matchday squad for their clash with Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday.

The midfielder has made eight appearances so far this campaign, having returned from a serious knee injury towards the back-end of last season.

However, only four of them have been starts while he was an unused substitute for the Reds' midweek Champions League victory over Red Bull Salzburg.

And the ECHO understands Oxlade-Chamberlain misses the Reds' clash with Leicester after getting hit in the head by a ball at training on Melwood on Friday, with his absence just a precaution with the 26-year-old still feeling the ill-effects.

Fabinho and Mohamed Salah both sat out games for Liverpool after suffering head injuries last season.
