Reason major Nottingham city centre road is closed causing tailbacks

A major Nottingham city centre road is closed due to demolition work taking place.

The A60 Huntingdon Street, at its junction with Mansfield Road, is closed inbound while a building is being knocked down.

The building on the corner of A60 Huntingdon Street and Alfred Street North, which used to be a tyre and car repair shop, is being knocked down.

Because of this, traffic cannot travel down A60 Huntingdon Street at the fork with Mansfield Road.

A short diversion is in place, for motorists to continue travelling down Mansfield Road, and then take the first left down Frogmore Street.

But the work is causing traffic to tailback from that junction onto the A60 / A6130 double roundabout at the bottom of the hill by Forest Fields.

Outbound on A60 Huntingdon Street, traffic is down to one lane, but is flowing.

It is not known how long the road will remain closed for while the work takes place.
