A pickup truck driver wholeheartedly thanked the owner of a McLaren worth about 30 million baht for forgiving him after he rear-ended the supercar.

Weerapong Thongchum, 29, told reporters that he was driving at speed and was unable to stop in time when he encountered a traffic jam. His truck skidded sideways, its front hitting a Toyota Camry...and its rear slamming into the back of a brand-new McLaren.

Mr Weerapong said he got out of his truck and apologised to the drivers of the two cars he hit. He said the owner of the supercar was not angry at him, but merely advised him to drive more carefully.

The supercar owner also told him that he was lucky, saying that if he had hit someone else, he might have faced serious consequences.

Facebook user Werayut Kaewkaew posted a dashboard video clip of the crash on Saturday. The accident happened on Highway 7 (Bangkok-Chon Buri motorway) near Pattaya on Saturday.

Media reported the hit supercar was only the third McLaren 720S in the country.
