Sheffield Wednesday's players have to prove a point to their own manager when they face Nottingham Forest.
That is the verdict of former Owls defender Andy Hinchcliffe, who says their 5-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday left him alarmed.
Wednesday have lost nine of their last Championship 14 games, but have won nine out of their last 10 against Forest .
Manager Garry Monk delivered a scathing assessment of their performance at Griffin Park and Hinchcliffe feels they had no right to question what he said.
Instead, he told the Sky Sports EFL Podcast they must deliver a response on the pitch against the Reds at Hillsborough this weekend.
"Losing games is one thing. Losing 5-0 is another. How you lose games is what fans and coaches look at," he said.
"They weren't right. Nothing went right for them.
"I believed the top six was possible but it's all gone horribly wrong. If you aren't applying yourself and the coach speaks about a lack of application it's really worrying.
"It's down to the players now. They've not got a leg to stand on. They can't say Garry Monk is wrong."
