'Really strange' - Nottingham Forest fans confused by Alexander Milosevic departure

Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to the news that defender .

The Swedish centre-back has left by mutual consent with the club, and leaves without making a single appearance for the this season.

Milosevic was signed by Martin O’Neill last season, and made 12 appearances for the club in establishing a reliable partnership with Michael Dawson at the heart of the defence.

Under Sabri Lamouchi, Joe Worrall has been preferred at centre-back, with Chema and Tobias Figueiredo both getting opportunities following Dawson’s injury.

The Reds also have Yohan Benalouane and Michael Hefele on their books, though both are also currently ruled out through injury.

Given his lack of game time, it was expected Milosevic might leave the City Ground in January, but his departure more than two months before the transfer window opens comes as a surprise.

Forest fans were also surprised to hear the news of Milosevic’s departure. Here is a selection of what they had to say.

Hamish Scott: “Good luck for the future Alex. I always rated you.”

Jack Bryan: “I think this outcome was inevitable. Very good defender at this level too. Good luck to him.”

Doc: “Milosevic Gone then. Can’t say I’m surprised given the lack of appearances this season. Thought he did well last season.”

Dave Holmes: “Shame really as he was one of the top performers towards the back end of last season but he’s had no involvement so far so makes sense for both sides.”

Scaggydo: “Probably one of the most confusing thing to happen at #nffc this season tbh.”

Scott Lee: “I don’t get the reasoning behind @MilosevicAlex being released. He was a quality CB.”

Paul Gilbert: “Bit gutted about Milosevic thought he was an excellent signing and played really well for us.”

Greg: “Really strange. Barely put a foot wrong when he played last season and should certainly have been above others in the pecking order this season. Good luck Milo.”

Emily: “Hope we don’t end up regretting this.”
