Really strange food Kate Middleton craved when she was pregnant with Prince Louis

The Royal Family are well-known for taking good care of their health and wellbeing, ensuring they do regular exercise and watching what they eat.

The Queen is well regarded for watching her diet and famously prefers simple dishes with lots of fruit and vegetables over thick and heavy sauces. Another such royal who has become famed for leading an incredibly healthy lifestyle is The Duchess of Cambridge. However when she was pregnant with her third child, Prince Louis, she experienced some rather weird cravings.

Kate and Wills welcomed little Louis at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington on April 23, 2018. t is well-known that she faced many difficulties during her pregnancies and was even briefly hospitalised for severe morning sickness before Prince George was born in 2013.

And like many who are expecting, Kate also experienced several very strange food cravings including incredibly spicy food and curries. But perhaps the most unusual was her craving for thinly sliced pickle on brown toast.

Kate also reportedly ate avocado to cope with her difficult struggle with morning sickness. During the royal visit in 2017, Prince William was offered an avocado by a young boy whose mum was suffering too.

William told the little boy: “I’ve never been given an avocado before. That’s really sweet of you. Catherine will love the avocado.”

When it comes to Kate's favourite snacks, it seems she only has a penchant for the healthiest foods. She has been known for satisfying her hunger cravings by sticking with raw fruit and vegetables, including immune-boosting goji berries.

She has also been known to opt for popcorn, which can be a brilliant and tasty low-calorie snack to keep you going in between meals, if it is not coated in too much sugar.

But when it comes to her favourite snack, it is apparently olives - and she shares this love with her daughter, Princess Charlotte. The revelation came back in 2018 during her visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she chatted to a four-year-old who was waiting for a heart transplant.

The patient revealed that he liked to eat olives, to which Kate replied: "I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well."

While the public got to see Prince Louis' excitable behaviour during The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, his parents offered many insights about their youngest son before.

During an interview with the BBC for the Earthshot Prize, Prince William described how his children are becoming more climate conscious. He said: "Charlotte is just a bit young, she's still not quite sure and actually Louis just enjoys playing outside the whole time - he lives outside."

The Duchess of Cambridge also opened up about Louis during a meeting with Mila Sneddon - the young girl and cancer survivor who captured Kate's heart during her Hold Still photography project - and described how she struggles to keep up with him.

She joked: "I can't keep up with him. Louis has got so big now, he’s very quick running around and he’s on his little scooter as well. He’s very quick. I can’t keep up with him."

At a separate engagement where the duchess was introduced as the new patron of the Rugby Football Union, she revealed how much her three children enjoy playing rugby.

She then joked about her fears for Louis when he gets older, saying: “They’re all enjoying it, Louis is kamikaze, we’re worrying about when he gets older, he’ll be in the middle of everything.”
