Former Leeds United centre-back Ben White has admitted that Arsenal's clash with Tottenham is the best atmosphere he's ever experienced.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal over summer from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported £50m and has helped turn the London club's season around.
Yesterday he was interviewed by club’s website about his experiences on loan at League Two side Newport County, but there was also a small mention for Leeds, where he was on loan during the 2019/20 season.
Speaking to arsenal.com, he said: “When I was at Leeds on loan playing in a full Elland Road was always great – a really big atmosphere. In fact I played against Arsenal that year at the Emirates, in the FA Cup.
“It was 1-0 to Arsenal, but I think Leeds probably deserved to win on the day, so it is a bittersweet memory for me.
“We lost the game but playing at the Emirates for the first time was great. You always want to play in front of big crowds and that’s what being on loan is about as well, being introduced to these big games slowly.”
He then revealed the atmosphere at his new club is better than at Leeds: “I have to say though that the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in was the Tottenham game here this season. That’s the best.”
Not that it can be held against White, who was a total warrior during his time at Leeds, playing in every single match - 49 appearances in total - and being a huge help in getting the team back in the Premier League.
White has also got into the England team twice this year, and many predict he will become the foundation of the national side's defence in the coming years.
