'Really bad way' - Richard Keogh's agent breaks silence on Derby County sacking

The agent of former Derby County captain Richard Keogh has spoken about how the defender has been affected by his recent sacking.

The former Rams skipper had his contract terminated with immediate effect for gross misconduct last week.

He now faces at least a year out after being injured in a car crash that resulted in Rams' team-mates Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett being convicted of drink-driving.

Keogh is expected to appeal his Derby sacking, according to DerbyshireLive, though it is thought the club are still awaiting official confirmation.

It is also being reported that he turned down an offer to see out the remainder of his contract on reduced wages.

Keogh’s agent, Cos Toffis, has broken his silence on the situation which has arisen, and reveals how the former Derby defender has been feeling since he was sacked by the Rams.

"Richard is in a really bad way, currently,” Toffis told talkSPORT.

“It's heartbreaking, I don't think I could possibly put in words how much he is hurting and what his family is going through, it is an absolutely heartbreaking moment."

"These are probably the most difficult days, on match days. The few matches that have been since the incident and since the sacking, it has been really quite difficult to get through them."

Nottingham Forest are due to face their arch rivals this weekend in the Sky Bet Championship, as the Reds welcome the Rams to the City Ground on Saturday.
