There are reports of a "really bad smell" coming from the lake at Croxteth park due to an outbreak.
As a result dog owners are being asked to keep their pets on a lead when visiting the park while an investigation is ongoing.
The problem was first highlighted after one woman, who visits Croxteth Park on a regular basis spotted the lake closest to the hall looked 'very polluted'.

Along with describing a 'really bad smell', the woman also took photos of the lake, which show dead fish floating at the surface along with the water barely being visible.
She became concerned as she knows people were still allowing their pets to jump into the water.
She said: "I visit Croxteth Park a lot and for the last few months the lakes nearest the hall have looked very polluted, recently I have noticed dead fish floating and the lake smells really bad.
"Every time I go back just looks worse."
Liverpool City Council is now investigating what they believe is a floating aquatic weed outbreak in the park and is asking pet owners to keep a close eye on their animals.
A spokesperson said: “Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the outbreak on Croxteth Park Lake.

"During this time, pet owners are advised not to let their animal drink from, or enter, the lake.”
