Reality TV couple under fire for 'fat shaming' Pierce Brosnan and wife Keely Shaye Smith

A US reality TV couple have sparked backlash for 'fat shaming' Irish actor Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely Shaye Smith.

Jenelle Evans, who gained fame on MTV reality series Teen Mom, shared a before-and-after photo of the former James Bond star and his wife on the beach on her Facebook page.

The photos show the famous couple frolicking in the sand and embracing one another, 20 years apart, side-by-side.

The images were initially shared online to celebrate the everlasting love between Pierce and Keely, who have been married since 2001, but Evans and her husband David Eason instead decided to have a pop at the loved-up couple for their understandable weight gain.

Jenelle, 29, captioned her re-post: "David Eason and this is us."

David, 33, replied, "We do not look that fat", with his wife, who has been an advocate for body positivity in the past, responding, "close to it".

Jenelle's followers on Facebook were quick to call the couple out over their comments, with many accusing the pair of fat-shaming the Meath actor and his long-time love.

Some social media users even reported the comment to Facebook, with Jenelle later issuing an update saying: "Y’all… David is blocked from FB for 7 days saying the word 'fat'".

The couple's mean-spirited comments were posted just days after Jenelle shared a video reassuring women of their changing bodies after having children, especially around the lower abdomen.

Taking to social media to discuss her FUPA, the slang term for belly fat, she said: "It's okay... happens with age. Always love yourself. FUPA for life."

"We all have a FUPA area, and it's just there. I think, ya know, with moms being so relaxed at home, ya know taking care of the kids all the time, they really don't have the time to work out.

"But you know, embrace your body. You're not there to impress anyone. Just live your life. Be happy."

Brosnan, 68, met Smith in 1994 at a party in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and they tied the knot in 2001 in Ballytubber Abbey in Co Mayo.

The couple share son Dylan Thomas Brosnan, born in 1997, and Paris Beckett Brosnan, born in 2001.
