Reality star Ashley Cain left devastated after baby daughter loses battle with leukaemia

Reality TV star Ashley Cain has been left devastated after his baby daughter Azaylia lost her fight with leukaemia.

The 30-year-old former Ex On The Beach star and his girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee were told their daughter may only have "days to live" after doctors found more tumours but she managed to battle on for a number of weeks.

However, brave Azaylia, who was born in August last year, was unable to fight her illness any longer, despite all the efforts made to prolong her life.

On Sunday, Ashley confirmed she had sadly died, reports The Mirror.

In an Instagram post, the former footballer wrote: "Rest In Paradise Princess. I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven."

In her own tribute, Safiyya wrote: "You are my Angel my heartbeat my soul, RIP my precious baby, you will always be with me like a handprint on my heart."

Ashley had raised £1.5m in donations from the public to fly his daughter to Singapore for specialist treatment but before they could go, a CT scan showed that there were further complications.

Taking to Instagram, Ashley told fans: "So we had the bone marrow test and the lumbar puncture and bloods taken to send to Singapore in the hope that they could create therapy to save Azaylia's life.

"Then we had to have a CT scan on her head and the results came back the next day to say she's got two very big tumours on her brain.

"They also said that the chemotherapy that is usually given to treat leukaemia in the spine or the brain will not be available because she has too much pressure with these tumours.

"If they tried to go through the spinal tap it would kill her. At that point, our world came down.

"Consultants said that they think she's only got one, two days to live, it could even be that night."

Ashley and Safiyya had taken their daughter home from hospital but after two nights, the decision was taken to take the baby off pain medication.

The little one perked up briefly, giving hope that travelling to Singapore could be a possibility but these hopes were dashed after doctors there said that Azaylia's condition was too rare to treat.

Ashley had posted an emotional video on Instagram after the news, in which he spoke about how his daughter had had a "tough life since eight weeks old".

The tearful reality star said: "For the last part of her life I just want to take her home. See her like a baby and give her the best rest of her life ever."

Azaylia was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia two months after her August birth and had been receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

In recent weeks, Azaylia's health deteriorated as blood clots were discovered on her brain, which led to her crying blood and having to spend more time in hospital.
