Reality dating series Too Hot Too Handle returns to Netflix with release date confirmed

Fans of dating reality shows have reason to rejoice – Too Hot To Handle is heading back to Netflix for a brand new season.

The celibacy based reality series was released to mixed reviews when it first started airing on the US streaming network last year.

The show sees a group of attractive singletons living together in a luxury villa with a cash prize up for grabs for the couple who are crowned the winners – with contestants from all over the world taking part.

The twist of the show is that the prize fund decreases every time contestants take their attraction to a physical level – with season one seeing the original prize fund of $100,000 (£70,000) slashed to $75,000 (£52,000) after contestants kissed, touched and more.

Following the success of the first series, two more seasons were announced by Netflix.

And now the network has revealed when to expect new episodes to start streaming.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Netflix announced: “Time to return to the no-bone zone.

“TOO HOT TO HANDLE S2 arrives on 23 June, with the final episodes following a week later.”

The response from fans appeared to be one of shock as some responded to the tweet declaring: “Oh my god!” while others replied with eyes emojis.

While the June air date puts the show on a direct clash with Love Island which is also due to air at the same time.

Filming is believed to be currently under way, with filming taking place despite the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic, with filming taking place in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Despite trending number 1 on Netflix around the world upon initial release, many critics lined up to slam the show.

It was branded an unappealing mix of Love Island and Temptation Island by some, while others found the show lacking direction.

As one critic wrote: “Its will-they-or-won’t-they concept is ruined as soon as it becomes clear that, yes, they obviously will, even if it means losing tens of thousands of dollars.”
