Real Wolf of Wall Street is Andy Murray fan and is coming to Scotland to tell of drug-fuelled life of excess

The infamous Wall Street trader whose crimes inspired a Hollywood movie has told how he’s swapped a drug-fuelled life of excess to cheer on Andy Murray.

Jordan Belfort – better known as The Wolf of Wall Street – has transformed from his time as the bad boy city slicker who swindled millions from hapless investors to become good friends with Jamie Delgado, who coaches Scots tennis superstar Sir Andy.

Belfort’s colourful life inspired Martin Scorsese’s cult movie but the 56-year-old is now a motivational speaker and author.

He said: “Every morning I wake up and think about how I can deliver value.

“I have played tennis at Wimbledon. I am a keen player and admire Andy Murray, so it was great to become close to Jamie and play at the place where Andy won two titles.”

Belfort – played by Leonardo DiCaprio in biopic The Wolf of Wall Street – is coming to the SEC in Glasgow on May 4 to share his story.

During his career, he sank luxury yachts and made $20million in a day before a spectacular fall from grace that saw him spend 22 months in prison.

But he said: “Nowadays, I am all about my work. Everything I do is based on ethics and integrity.”
