Real Sociedad prepare for Friday night Leeds United friendly with draw against La Liga rivals

Real Sociedad prepared for their Friday night trip to Elland Road to play Leeds United with a 1-1 draw over Spanish compatriots Rayo Vallecano.

The Basque side took the lead on eight minutes through Norwegian forward Alexander Sorloth, only to be pegged back on 27 minutes when Randy Nteka found the back of the net for Rayo.

While the game finished 1-1, there's no doubt La Real will prove a tough test for Jesse Marsch and co on Friday night. Imanol Alguacil's side currently sit third in La Liga, and are enjoying an excellent season.

They topped their Europa League group ahead of Manchester United, who they ended up beating 1-0 away at Old Trafford in late September. They also boast a host of quality players, even after losing striker Alexander Isak to Newcastle United last summer.

In Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, Brais Mendez and David Silva, La Real have four quality midfielders who have all played for Spain. Silva and Merino are also no strangers to English football, having turned out for Manchester City and Newcastle in the past.

While La Real drew their Winter break friendly against Rayo, Leeds beat La Liga side Elche 2-1 last week. Heading into the break, the Whites found themselves 1-0 down after Elche winger Josan gave the Spanish side the lead.

However, Leeds managed to battle back after the break to claim a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Joe Gelhardt and Mateusz Klich. Friday night against La Real will serve as Leeds' penultimate pre-Premier League restart friendly, with the Whites set to take on Monaco next week.

And then the following weekend, Leeds return to domestic action to face off against Premier League champions Manchester City at Elland Road.
