Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil pinpoints three Manchester United threats

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil says his side are optimistic ahead of facing Manchester United but are well aware of the threat that lies ahead of them in this evening's Europa League tie.

United face the Spanish side in Turin for the opening leg of the round of 32 tie this evening due to coronavirus restrictions meaning Sociedad cannot play at home.

Speaking to AS ahead of the game, Alguacil identified Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani as three players his side need to be aware of.

He said: "With Manchester United in front of us, we may be delusional thinking that we can pass.

"But that has been earned by overcoming the group of death by playing great games.

"And although I think Manchester United is not a step further - it is a leap - we are convinced that we are going to go all out.

"But we must be aware of the potential that lies ahead, a great team with terrible potential.

"It is a great tie in which we hope Real is still alive after the first game."

He added: "There is no doubt that there is a different player who is Bruno Fernandes.

"But we cannot stay with a single name, having Rashford, Cavani, they are all of such great potential and quality.

"Just putting the focus on Bruno, that is no way to stop Manchester United if they have their day.

"What concerns me the most is my team and, as long as we have done what we are capable of, we always compete and we are capable of winning."

Alguacil is excited at the prospect of this evening's game and believes if his side can avoid defeat, they will take an advantage into the second leg courtesy of the away goals rule.

He said: "Our idea is clear. But it's the opponent that makes you carry that idea forward or not.

"We want to go for the game, we will see how it happens. But we are two brave and determined teams, who like to have the ball and who press up.

"That's why I think it's going to be a great game, because of the quality of the two teams. Let's see if it falls on our side."

He added: "I think it's going to be about goals. And let's hope it stays alive for us in Turin, it would be a good sign, but it will be with some advantage for us, of course."
