Real Sociedad make transfer decision amid Willian Jose Tottenham and Manchester United links

Tottenham's hunt for a striker goes on as we edge ever close to the January transfer deadline.

Jose Mourinho has so far been unable to bring in a replacement for Harry Kane after the striker injured his hamstring in the 1-0 defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day.

Despite losing the England captain on the first day of the month, it appears that it will be a race against time for the Lilywhites to bring in a new frontman after missing out on Krzysztof Piatek following his move to Hertha Berlin.

Olivier Giroud is the latest striker to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, yet a move across the capital looks unlikely to come off with Chelsea struggling to bring in a new frontman.

Alasdair Gold on Olivier Giroud, Willian Jose and Spurs exits

Real Sociedad's Willian Jose is another player who has been linked with a move to Spurs and his name will no doubt crop up before the 11pm deadline.

Well, amid talk of a switch to either Spurs or Manchester United for the Brazilian, his club have now provided an update on their transfer plans for the day and it doesn't look good for Mourinho's men.

"This last market day is working to close the exit of the club of Ruben Pardo," they tweeted."In the winter market there will be no more movements in the current template.

"This illusion and ambition in the remainder of the season is maximum and that leads to to look for the stability of this template until the end of the season."

Spurs signed Steven Bergwijn from PSV earlier in the week and he is capable of playing through the middle in Kane's absence if needed.

The fact his main position is on the left wing also allows Son to move centrally and this may happen if a new striker doesn't come in through the door before the deadline.

Bergwijn will be available to make his debut for the Lilywhites this Sunday against Man City.
