Real Mallorca vs Barcelona preview: LaLiga champions restart title defence

LaLiga football returns this week after a three-month delay, and Barcelona will look to hit the ground running as they bid to defend their title.

Barcelona headed into the football shutdown with a two-point lead over rivals Real Madrid, and the Clasico enemies will face a 39-day battle to be crowned champions.

Barca coach Quique Setien will be hoping for more inspiration from Lionel Messi, while Luis Suarez is also set to return from a knee injury to boost the Blaungrana for a trip to Mallorca on Saturday.

Mallorca are struggling in 18th place in the table, but the pressure will be on Barca to get a result in an empty stadium with Zinedine Zidane's Los Blancos waiting for a slip-up.

Date, venue and kick-off time

Mallorca vs Barcelona will be held at Iberostar Stadium on June 13, with kick-off scheduled for 9pm BST.

Prediction: Mallorca 0-2 Barcelona

Barca have been almost perfect at home this season with 13 wins and a draw, but are just the fifth-best team in terms of away results.

The Blaugrana have won five, lost five and drawn three away from Camp Nou - and Mallorca have only conceded 14 goals in 14 home games so far.

Barca should get the result here, but they may have to get the job done early if, as Setien fears, extra subs could harm their chances of wearing teams down late on.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

The teams last met in LaLiga back on December 7 at Camp Nou, with Barca winning 5-2 thanks to a Messi hat-trick.
