Benzema ultimately had the decisive say with an extra-time header as the 13-time champions of Europe survived a massive scare to end Chelsea’s amazing resistance.
Thomas Tuchel was hurt but proud of his players following their efforts in Madrid, though he expressed his fury at the VAR and accused referee Szymon Marciniak of “laughing” with Real counterpart Carlo Ancelotti.
