Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid lineups: Confirmed team news and predicted XIs for International Champions Cup derby

Real Madrid will be without Marco Asensio and Ferland Mendy for Friday night’s derby in the International Champions Cup.

Asensio ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Tuesday in Landover and is set to be sidelined for up to nine months.

Meanwhile, Madrid announced on Thursday that Mendy is out with a calf injury picked up in that match, which Zinedine Zidane’s side won on penalties.

The left-back is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks and could miss the start of the season.

Brahim Diaz has a thigh problem and will play no part either, while Casemiro, Eder Militao and James Rodriguez are still on holiday after the Copa America.

Nacho could be available despite his red card against Arsenal, but Jesus Vallejo is still away after the European Under-21 Championship and is close to completing a loan move to Wolves.

Atletico Madrid should be at full strength for the ICC clash in East Rutherford.

Joao Felix has recovered from a blow to the hip sustained in the 3-0 win over Numancia last Saturday, which kept the club’s record signing out of the 0-0 draw (and victory on penalties) against Guadalajara in Arlington on Wednesday.

Alvaro Morata should start against his former club in attack, while former Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente is also expected to be available despite his red card against Chivas.

Jose Gimenez and Santiago Arias are still on holiday after their participation in the Copa America.

Predicted lineups

Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Kroos, Modric, Isco; Lucas Vazquez, Benzema, Hazard

Atletico XI: Oblak; Trippier, Felipe, Hermoso, Lodi; Joao Felix; Saul, Llorente, Koke; Diego Costa, Morata
