That’s all for now. Thanks for following along with us and do check back later for a full match report.

Full time: Real Madrid 2-3 Barcelona

There’s the whistle and Barcelona have prevailed, following a wildly entertaining first half, on a Gerard Pique winner five minutes after the break.

90 min: The fourth official calls for two minutes of stoppage time.

85 min: Apologies for the technical difficulties (uncooperative Wi-Fi) on our end, but we promise you haven’t missed a whole lot. Well, besides a big chance from Ceballos moments ago that sailed wide of the target.

80 min: Pace has slowed a bit since the last wave of subs. Meanwhile, tonight’s official attendance has been announced: 66,014.

74 min: Mascherano, Alena, Digne and Samper are on for Pique, Rakitic, Alba and Busquets.

71 min: Barcelona win a free kick thanks to a clattering challenge by Marcelo, but nothing comes of it. A fresh wave of subs for Barca that we’ll catch you up on shortly, but it looks like Neymar is coming off. Could it be the last time we see him in the Barca shirt?

70 min: A quick break by Madrid. Isco runs 20 yards with the ball as the crowd swells before finding Bale, whose shot is off the mark though in the general vicinity of the goal.

67 min: Ever-loyal reader JR from Illinois checks in via email:

Looks like both sides are in mid-season referee-surrounding form. Rakitic just bumped the ref a couple times then pointed a finger in his face multiple times. That doesn’t seem acceptable but I guess here in the U.S. there are a lot of things that weren’t acceptable before that are now allowed.

65 min: Barcelona win a corner, but it’s sent long and out for a goal kick. A quick counter by Madrid, who work it quickly up the pitch to Bale, who’s a bit rough with his controlling touch, leaving him with a tight angle that Cillessen chokes off nicely.

62 min: Suarez and Carvajal are shown yellow for some extracurriculars. Nothing too serious. Four more substitutions by Barcelona, it appears: Vermaelen, Semedo, Denis Suarez and Alcacer entering for Umtiti, Vidal, Messi and Luis Suarez.

60 min: Catching up on the Barcelona subs. Sergi Roberto came on for Andres Iniesta at the break ... and it appears a few more will come on at the hour mark.

59 min: A quick counter by Madrid and they have numbers! Isco beats his defender and manages to wrong-foot Cillessen, but the keeper manages to fully extend and get a glove on it. A far more difficult save than he made it look!

58 min: Suarez makes a beautiful run onto a ball from Vidal, but Navas arrives in the nick of time to break it up.

57 min: Wide open two-way action at the moment. Rip roaring fun!

56 min: Now it’s Vazquez who’s brought down in the area on a stiff challenge, looking to the referee for sympathy. Nothing.

55 min: Neymar into the area and beats Navas, but, again, perhaps a touch too many and the Brazilian misses while being taken down. He appeals for a penalty but nothing. How close Barca came to doubling their lead right there.

53 min: Nothing doing for Gareth Bale tonight. He breaks into space onto a through ball but his shot is off target.

GOAL! Real Madrid 2-3 Barcelona (Pique, 50 min)

Barcelona win a free kick on the edge of the area. Neymar takes it are back and Pique slips behind a slumbering Nacho and volleys it into the back of the net. A wonderful finish by the center back, but truly ghastly defending there by Los Blancos.

47 min: Looks like four changes for Real Madrid as Vallejo, Isco, Nacho and Lucas Vazquez came on at half-time for Sergio Ramos, Modric, Varane and Asensio.

46 min: And we’re off in the second half.

If it seems like half-time has gone long, that’s because we’ve just been treated to a musical extravaganza courtesy of Marc Anthony. What a treat! At last, however, the players are back on the pitch. Expect wholesale substitutions after the break.

Half-time: Real Madrid 2-2 Barcelona

And there’s the whistle. Two early goals by Barcelona really put the spurs to Real Madrid and breathed life into this glorified friendly, which has unfolded with a hint of the edge you’d expect from this famous rivalry. Plenty more to come from Miami.

45 min: The pace has slowed somewhat as half-time draws near. The fourth official signals for two minutes of added time.

42 min: A bit of a slow patch for both sides comes to life when Iniesta finds Messi, who dribbles around two, three, four Madrid defenders before cutting into the area, where he’s finally taken down. He appeals to the referee for a penalty but it’s not given.

GOAL! Real Madrid 2-2 Barcelona (Asensio, 35 min)

Another corner for Barca. This one played into the area and easily cleared ... and it’s a rapid-fire counter-attack by Real Madrid. They have numbers, a 3-v-2 advantage. Kovacic calmly picks out Asensio, whose clinical finish makes it 2-all with 10 minutes till half-time.

31 min: More sloppy defending by Madrid as they try to play out of the back. Messi nearly makes them pay, but they’re able to clear it before he can.

29 min: Barcelona surges up the pitch: four passes, 70 yards. It ends with Neymar, who probes, probes, a dribble too many perhaps, before uncorking a tightly angled shot toward the far post that misses by a foot.

27 min: Bale, who’s been mostly invisible tonight, surges forward into space and is targeted by the Madrid midfield, but the flag goes up for offside. Meanwhile, Jordi Alba has been dinged up on a challenge and is down for a brief treatment spell.

26 min: Messi finds Neymar on the edge of the area and the crowd swells, but Kovacic tracks back in the nick of time to disrupt the mounting threat.

24 min: Barca win a corner. It’s played short and around the area to Iniesta, who tries to thread a high-risk pass into the teeth of the Madrid defense but is denied.

22 min: Neymar curls into the area and is sent flying after colliding with the back foot of Varane, who’s shown the night’s first yellow card for his trouble.

21 min: Another quick counter by Los Blancos but Modric sends his shot sailing high over the crossbar. Moments later, a Pique error in the back while trying to clear nearly results in an equalizer, but Barca manages to escape.

19 min: A quick counter-attack by Madrid. Casemiro finds Benzema, who carries into the area and puts a left-footed shot just wide right of the target.

18 min: Casemiro is down nearly the halfway line after a studs-up challenge by Neymar, who’s been a live wire tonight. (All week, really.)

Real Madrid 1-2 Barcelona (Kovacic, 14 min)

A late challenge by Neymar leads to a spot kick. The ball goes to Kovacic, Pique slips and it’s a clinical finish for the Croat, who’s cut Barca’s advantage in half just 14 minutes in. Game on!

11 min: Neymar is back on. Rakutic gets forward and it’s nearly a second for the Croatian and a third for Barcelona but his shot is just wide of the target.

GOAL! Real Madrid 0-2 Barcelona (Rakutic, 7 min)

A terribly sloppy giveaway by Carvajal in Real Madrid’s own third. Barcelona quickly has three on the attack and it pops out to Rakutic outside the area, who finishes with power and precision in beating the keeper at the far post. A dream start for Barcelona tonight in Miami.

GOAL! Real Madrid 0-1 Barcelona (Messi, 3 min)

Messi enters the area with the ball, cuts past Modric and tries to chip the keeper and it’s in for a goal! Lucky, no doubt, thanks to the deflection off an opposing player. But wow. What an opening three minutes to this one!

2 min: Neymar has come off the pitch. The biggest story of the night only 55 seconds in? He’s still being treated in front of his bench.

Updated

1 min: And they’re off! A deafening roar goes up from the crowd as Barcelona attacks from right to left in familiar home kits, Real Madrid going the other way in all-white strips. Less than a minute in and Neymar is down! A non-contact injury. He’s grabbing his left ankle and, oh dear, it looks like he’s really hurt it.

The players are out of the tunnel and the estimated crowd of 65,000, some of whom paid as much as $10,000 for the plush seats on the secondary market, are on their feet. Obligatory handshakes happening as the starters names are called off by the PA announcer. Largest roars for Leo Messi, natch. Not much longer now.

The lights are down in the old Joe Robbie Stadium as the teams ready to emerge from the tunnel. It’s only the second time Real Madrid and Barcelona have met off Spanish soil. The first was a 1982 match in Venezuela before a crowd of ... a few thousand. That’s right. A few more folks in the house tonight.

Ashley from Philadelphia asks why Ronaldo is not in the side for Real Madrid as was heavily suggested this week. The Portuguese superstar has pulled out citing personal commitments, International Champions Cup organisers confirmed to the Miami Herald yesterday.

The teams!

Here’s a look at the lineups for tonight’s so-called Sunshine State Clásico.

Real Madrid

Navas; Carvajal, Marcelo, Varane, Ramos; Casemiro, Modric, Kovacic; Benzema, Bale, Asensio

Barcelona

Cillessen; Vidal, Umtiti, Piqué, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta; Messi, Suárez, Neymar

Hello and welcome to tonight’s gilded pre-season friendly between Real Madrid and Barcelona at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. The climax of this year’s International Champions Cup exhibition series has been billed stateside as an historic event: El Clásico comes to America. Of course, tonight’s meeting doesn’t hold a fraction of the significance of when these two clubs meet during the season, but you’d never know it from the wall-to-wall pre-game coverage ESPN is serving up across its family of networks.

We’re about 40 minutes from kickoff. Back with the team sheets in two shakes of a lamb’s tail.
