Real Madrid travelling squad vs Man City includes Sergio Ramos but not Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale will not travel to Manchester for Real Madrid's crunch Champions League tie at the Etihad but Sergio Ramos will.

Despite being suspended owing to a red card picked up in the closing moments of the first leg, captain Ramos is being brought over with the rest of Zinedine Zidane's squad after training with the group for the past fortnight and will be able to go into the dressing room on the night and cheer his teammates on from inside the stadium.

Bale came off the bench as a substitute in the first leg and has shown before he can be a matchwinner in the Champions League. His absence does little to suggest the player's time at the Bernabeu isn't running out with Zidane making plans without him. Former City youngster Brahim Diaz and ex-Chelsea star Eden Hazard are among the players included in the 24-man travelling squad for the match.

Sergio Aguero is the main injury concern for Pep Guardiola. The Argentine striker has been working hard to prove his fitness after undergoing knee surgery in Barcelona in June, but the match could come too soon for him. Providing there have been no other knocks in training, the Blues should have a fully fit squad otherwise.

Both teams will hold a press conference and a training session on Thursday at the Etihad Campus ahead of the game, in line with UEFA regulations, where the manager can expected to be asked about the latest team news and the thinking behind their decisions.

Real Madrid squad: Courtois, Areola, Altube; Carvajal, Militao, Ramos*, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo, Mendy, Hernandez; Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Valverde, Isco; Hazard, Benzema, Vázquez, Jovic, Asensio, Brahim, Vinicius, Rodrygo.

*Ramos is suspended
