Real Madrid transfer news: Man Utd star Paul Pogba would be fantastic for us, says Raphael Varane

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane says Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba would be a fantastic signing for Los Blancos.

Zinedine Zidane's side lost 1-0 to Tottenham in Munich on Tuesday and afterwards, the French coach hinted that there could be more new signings before the end of the transfer window.

A new midfielder is the priority for Real and Pogba is Zidane's top target, although Manchester United have no intention of selling as the English transfer window enters its final week.

"Pogba is a good player, I know him very well. For any team he would be fantastic," Varane told reporters of his international team-mate after the game against Spurs.

"I trust my team-mates. If new players come, we'll see. I trust my team-mates."

Madrid's defeat to Tottenham follows losses against Bayern Munich and Atletico this month and Varane admits the team needs to improve.

"It is true that on an individual level we are making mistakes," he said.

"They're not tactical, they're technical errors. This will be corrected. I think we're going to improve little by little. We are focused on our work.

"I understand that there are many expectations. I also want to see Madrid win, we all want more, it's good and normal."

And he added: "We all know that when the competition starts, Madrid is something else. You have to be calm, this season hasn't started. When it starts, we'll be ready."
