Real Madrid 'to offer Tottenham cash-plus-player' transfer deal for Christian Eriksen

Real Madrid are set to offer Tottenham £45 million plus midfielder Dani Ceballos in an attempt to land Christian Eriksen this summer, according to reports.

Danish playmaker Eriksen has just one year left on his current contract and is yet to sign an extension with the north London club.

He also revealed that he is hoping to leave Spurs in the coming weeks, admitting that he would "like to try something new" amid reported interested from the Spanish giants.

Zinedine Zidane is looking to add a creative midfielder to his squad as he continues his rebuild following a disappointing campaign.

The Frenchman has already spent almost £300m this summer on five new faces, including former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, Lyon defender Ferland Mendy and striker Luka Jovic.

And the Sun reports that Madrid are planning to use youngster Ceballos to try and convince the Premier League club to part company with their star midfielder.

According to the publication, Mauricio Pochettino has been interested in the 22-year-old for a long time as he looks to strengthen his midfield options.

And it is claimed that the La Liga club want to use that interest to reduce Tottenham's asking price for Eriksen, believed to be around £100m.

Ceballos has reportedly told Zidane that he wants to leave the club this summer in a bid to get more game-time.

He made 34 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three times, but started most matches on the bench.

The former Betis man also featured just once in Los Blancos' final six league games, fuelling suggestions that he would be one of the players to leave this summer.

He is currently on international duty with Spain at the European Under-21 Championship and scored a stunning goal during his side's opening-day defeat against Italy on Sunday.
