Real Madrid stun Manchester City as astonishing fightback thwarts all English Champions League Final

Real Madrid left Manchester City shellshocked as they came back from the dead to win one of the most remarkable Champions League semi-finals ever.

Los Blancos lost an incredible first leg 4-3 in Manchester but returned to the Bernabeu with realistic hopes of overturning it.

Initially the clash in Spain failed to live up to expectations with the two sides slogging it out goalless for 73 minutes.

It appeared to be dead in the water when Riyad Mahrez struck, appearing to set up an all-Premier League final with Liverpool.

Brazilian winger Rodrygo pulled one back to make it 5-4 on aggregate but that appeared no more than a consolation as some fans made their way out of the stadium.

But then in one of the most astonishing moments of the competition's recent history, he struck again a minute later to take the tie to extra-time and leave Pep Guardiola's jaw on the floor.

The Bernabeu was rocked by what it was seeing and to add to the chaos a pitch invader briefly halted the start of extra-time.

However even that failed to steal the show for long as Ruben Dias fouled Karim Benzema in the box to allow the Frenchman to score from the spot.

That was ultimately enough for Real as they held on and will get the chance to compete for their 14th European Cup or Champions League crown in Paris.

They'll face Liverpool in a repeat of the 2018 final.
