Real Madrid star makes surprise Liverpool claim as Sadio Mane contract message emerges

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Friday, May 27.

Vinicius makes surprise Liverpool claim

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior wants Liverpool to field a full-strength team in the Champions League final on Saturday.

The Reds head to Paris with a question mark over key man Thiago Alcantara. He was taken off at half-time in the 3-1 home win over Wolves on the final day of the Premier League season and is seen as a doubt for the clash with Madrid, although Jurgen Klopp has offered a positive update. There have also been injury doubts over Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho. However, all three trained on Wednesday.

The last time the two teams met at this stage of the competition was in the 2018 final when infamously Sergio Ramos fouled Salah, which resulted in a shoulder injury that ended the Liverpool forward's game. Real went on to win 3-1 and Salah has since spoken out about getting 'revenge' this weekend.

The Egyptian should be fit along with the vast majority of Jurgen Klopp's players - and that will please Vinicius Junior.

"Hopefully they play with all of them," said the Brazilian when asked by Spanish radio’s El Larguero soccer show if Liverpool were overplaying their injury problems. "We want an amazing match between two teams with all their players. With 100% concentration. And both fighting for the most important thing, which is the Champions League."

Sadio Mane salary claim made

Former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Sadio Mane won't sign a new contract at Liverpool unless he 'gets exactly what he feels he deserves.'

The Senegal star has been in world-class form this season, helping the Reds win the FA Cup and Carabao Cup as well as finishing second in the Premier League, one point behind eventual champions Man City. With the UEFA Champions League still to be play for, it could be a very successful season for Mane and his team-mates.

Mane's continued improvement under Jurgen Klopp has seen him linked with a host of clubs across Europe, with Bayern Munich said to be keen on acquiring him once the summer transfer window opens next month. Mane's contract runs out next summer - which has led to speculation Liverpool could look to cash in during 2022.

With talks ongoing between the two sides, there's still every chance the former Southampton star puts pen to paper.

But Agbonlahor believes that unless Mane's new deal makes him one of the highest earners at the club, in the region of Mohamed Salah should he extend his Merseyside stay, then Mane will depart the club.
