Real Madrid set Gareth Bale price as Man Utd ponder summer swoop

Manchester United will have to fork out £113million if they want to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this summer.

The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop for the Welshman, who has endured a tough time in the Spanish capital.

The return of Zinedine Zidane as manager has increased speculation that a return to the Premier League could be on the horizon for the former Tottenham winger.

And according to Spanish daily AS , the European giants have set a huge asking price ahead of their own squad overhaul this summer.

It is claimed that the club want at least £113m for the player and they hope one of Europe’s big clubs will reach their demands.

With Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Philippe Coutinho all moving for huge sums in recent seasons, Madrid feel the price is fair in the current market.

There is a reservation, however, that potential suitors will try and haggle the price down when the window opens this summer.

Another stumbling block could be Bale’s salary demands, with the former Tottenham superstar earning almost £26million a year before tax.

Despite finding the net 14 times in 38 appearances for Los Blancos this season, doubts have been cast over the 29-year-old's future in Madrid with fans jeering the winger in recent weeks over his performances.

Real boss Zidane plans to sell the winger as part of a summer overhaul that is expected to see up £430m worth of talent leave the Spanish giants.

Madrid's sporting director Jose Angel Sanchez reportedly met with Bale's agents on Monday to discuss the player's future.

Despite detailing the club's plans to sell the Wales international during the summer, it is understood that Bale will be allowed to choose which club he wants to move to.
