Real Madrid have sent a touching letter to Claudio Bravo wishing the Manchester City goalkeeper well as he recovers from a serious injury.

Bravo ruptured an Achilles tendon in training last week and is expected to be sidelined for up to six months with the injury.

His absence has left Manchester City short of goalkeepers, with 19-year-old Montenegrin Aro Muric recalled from his loan spell at NAC Breda in order to provide cover for Ederson.

Despite playing for Barcelona between 2014 and 2016, Real Madrid have wished Bravo a “speedy recovery”.

The letter reads: “Dear Claudio. On behalf of all of us who make up Real Madrid C.F., especially our president, Florentino Perez, I want to send you our best wishes for a very speedy recovery.

“We are very sorry for what happened, as injuries are the worst part of football, but we have no doubt that, with your professionalism and commitment, you will continue to give a lot of joy to football fans.

“Warm regards, Emilio Butragueno, director of institutional relations.”

Taking to Twitter in response, Bravo said: “Thank you to @realmadrid for the noble gesture. Acts like this make football very good. A big hug.”

Real Madrid also sent Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore a similar letter wishing him the best as he recovered from a knee injury last year.
